Do you know this feeling when you have a specific item in your mind and you’re searching for days in the world wide web to find it? This tingling sensation about knowing exactly what you want and the hope to discover it every second. Since planning my wardrobe and tending more to a capsule wardrobe, I’m more aware what I buy and what would be a good addition to my other clothes. A few weeks ago, when I first saw a pointelle cardigan, I knew immediately that this would be a piece, I would wear for years and something I can easily combine with my other pieces.
So I few days ago, when I couldn’t sleep I finally started the hunt for the cardigan of my dreams. Come and join me on the journey to the finally purchased one. To begin, I had a checklist on my mind, it should be sustainable made, off-white / cream, with a pointelle pattern (see picture for example), fabric was important as I don’t like to wear so much synthetic fibres anymore, the buttons were on my list too (They can really make a difference) and I liked a cardigan who’s bit thicker and not so see through. With all these points in mind, I found a few and I will share with you the pro and cons.
Cardigan TONIO Sezane Paris
The first cardigan is from Sézane and it almost hit all of the points on my checklist. It’s very romantic, perfect length, its thicker and buttery soft. This is the one I bought in the end – sometimes you’re searching and searching and then you have to admit, that the first item was still the best fit for you.. What I love on this one: the buttons. I like some statement buttons and they’re bigger but not overly pronounced because they have the same color as the cardigan. The fabric is 40% Polyamide, 32% Kid Mohair and 28% Merino wool. I was actually searching for a piece made with 100% natural fabric but I couldn’t find one. Sézane has the Oeko-Tex label, this was a plus too. A little con for me was that the garment is produced in China – I would like it even better when it would be made in Europe.
Cardigan LaRedoute

The second one is from LaRedoute. This one is made out of 50% Polyester, 35% Polyacryl and 15% wool. A huge pro is the usage of recycled polyester. What I love here is the vintage look and the thicker knit. It’s less romantic then the Sézane one but it has more of a retro charm. I don’t like the buttons, but honestly – this is a easy fix. It’s still on my wish list – I’m debating with myself if I need two off-white cardigans in my wardrobe.

Cardigan LaRedoute
Also from the LaRedoute label is this one here. I love everything on it, the darker buttons, the pointelle pattern and the warmer quality. Definitely a keeper and a timeless piece! Comes in two more colours, camel and marine. The material is 70% polyacryl and 30% wool and it’s not sustainable made. This is definitely a con for me because I want to buy only sustainable made clothes in the future.

Cardigan Promod
The third one is similar to the Sézane again for half the price. This cardigan is from Promod. I discovered the brand last Summer when I was shopping in the beautiful Lucerne, Switzerland. The pattern is very romantic and it’s oh so perfect. Comes in five different colours – the lilac is beautiful too! And look at the buttons – aren’t they cute with the thin golden frame around? The material is 57% acrylic, 33% polyester and 10% alpaca. It’s not sustainable made and because of that, I decided to not buy it in the end.

Cardigan Balzac Paris
Another French brand I love: Balzac Paris. They started a collaboration with LaRedoute and all the items are dreamy and absolutely gorgeous. This cardigan has smaller buttons but here I like it because it’s such a delicate quality. The material is 33% polyamid, 33% acrylic and 10% mohair. I discovered this one a few days ago and I’m really in love with it. You can wear this one into spring with cute dresses and skirts and it goes never out of style. It has this charming retro touch.

Coming to an end with this blog post, I would like to introduce you to the last brand. I love to discover new finds on Instagram and the other day, I noticed this cardigan on the website from Intemporel Shop. It’s basically the same cardigan than the one from Sézane. It was out of stock for the last days – but now it’s available again. The material is 55% acrylic, 35% polyamide and 10% wool. Also this one is produced in China – like the Sézane one.

I will add more cardigans to this list when I find some good ones. I’m still unsure sometimes If I want to add the not sustainable products into my blog and my finds. This gives me a little headache and it’s also one of the reasons I delayed this website again and again. Somehow I want to make everything right, you know? But I guess, this can be used as a excuse too to not start and be scared – and I finally want to start and share. This blog already gave me so much joy with writing, editing and designing the website. And I have to start somewhere and maybe it will never be perfect. And that’s ok too.
Don’t forget: “la vie est belle”. With love,
Audrey
