My most important childhood dream was becoming an author. Almost 40 years (yes, a lot of years) later, I'm finally stepping out of my comfort-zone and putting myself out there into the unlimited possibilities of the world wide web.

Hi, I'm Audrey

Discloser: This is a sponsored blog post, but all opinions are my own. Thank you to 1People to give me the opportunity to write about what I love the most, a sustainable brand. Discovering new sustainable fashion brands for you gives me butterflies in my stomach. The excitement I feel when I write a blog article is priceless and gives me so much joy. I hope you’re enjoying this kind of content as much as I do!

I first stumbled upon this danish brand while I was browsing through my favorite sustainable marketplaces urbankissed.com and staiy.com. I immediately fell in love with the clean and timeless design, their neutral colors and that the brand is offering several capsule collections. All of their garments can be mixed and matched together.

When I was first approached by them, I had no hesitation to work together. This is exactly the kind of company I want to collaborate with and write about.

Company

1People has roots in Denmark and Indonesia and was founded in 2012 by Jonathan and Rea Tjoa Algreen. The designs are clean, minimalist and with a focus on details. The quality of the pieces is very high and luxurious.

Shipping and 3 year warranty

They offer a three-year warranty (!) on their clothes, shoes and accessories. Something else I found extremely customer friendly is that they offer 365-day free returns – how many times I missed the return time or I had to pay an extraordinary price for sending items back because I didn’t check the return policies? Countless. And they also offer free shipping. With warehouses in Germany, USA and Singapore they avoid long haul shipping, which is better for the environment.

Packaging

When it comes to the packaging, the brand is one of a kind. My pants were shipped in a beautiful cardboard box with their logo on top. I will reuse this box to store other small things in my office. The product description tags were made with paper and they didn’t use any plastic. Everything is made with the objective of sustainability.

Garments

The items are handcrafted from artisans for women who value quality and a sustainable, ethical wardrobe. The prices are set fair – for their artisans, for the company and for the end customer. They make sure that the workers are paid fairly and are working in a safe environment. Currently their items are produced from partner manufacturers in Indonesia, India and China. All of their manufacturers are listed on their website – another reason to love this brand.

Fabrics

When it comes to fabrics, they use natural or recycled fibres. You will see on their website also names like ECONYL® Regenerated Nylon, PYRATEX® and Piñatex® – innovative responsible materials which I will cover in the next days here on the blog.

Transparency

The brand provides very useful information on their website and you can also check their certifications. For me this is an easy way to quickly do some research on brands. There are so many fashion companies out there who say that they’re sustainable, but when you dig deeper you find that they are not living up to their stated values and that they are clearly greenwashing. So I really appreciate when a brand is as transparent as possible – it’s always a very good sign.

Positive impact

On their website you will discover two icons that are placed by the description of the garment. The first is the sustainability score of products to calculate how much of the product is sustainable. The next icon stands for “Business for planet”, a free global educational program. You can see the amount that goes directly to this program. The program is educating the new entrepreneurs of tomorrow, new businesses will be formed in an ethical and socially responsible fair way.

Where to buy

The brand can be bought at several marketplaces in Europe, Asia, Australia and the US.

The Florence Pants

The first impression is always the most important one (isn’t it?) and you can’t have this moment back. So when I opened the package, I had one of those WOW moments because I was looking at an elegant white card box top with the logo of 1People and the subtle grey bottom had the imprint “TOGETHER” on it. In my life I surely received a lot of parcels from clothing I purchased – but this packaging got me, it was so… perfect. You really feel the love of details in everything the brand does. There wasn’t any plastic, no bag, no plastic strings which are sometimes attached to the pants or labels with the care instructions. I’m always a little disappointed when I receive an order from a sustainable brand and then the item is in a plastic bag. Another thing that bothers me is sustainable clothing, made with natural fibres and then there’s a polyester tag with the brands name or wash instructions. Such things are a no-go for me, as these companies lack sustainability in little details that are simple, but make a difference.

The Florence pants are made with GOTS Certified Organic Cotton Twill that feels good on the skin. The quality is outstanding, from the little golden belt buckle to the fabric, which is thicker than I expected. You would think the pants wrinkle easily but this isn’t the case. On our short day trip to Geneva, they were looking good even after a three hours drive

And I was really able to test the pants to the core – after the car drive, we went to the city for stroll and in the evening, we went out for a drink. I planned to wear a dress but I was so cold that I decided to stay in the pants and changed the sweater for an elegant white silk blouse. And the pants were still holding up. Sure, there were a few wrinkles but the pants never lost their nice form. You for sure know the feeling when you’re wearing pants and they look good in the beginning – but after a few hours in them, they start to lose their form and look baggy on the knees or on your bootie? Not with the Florence pants. I was so happy that I received these pants in time for this overnight trip; you want to look great and content on your 1st year anniversary in a 5-star hotel, right?

The Florence pants are high waisted with a beautiful thin belt to accentuate your waist even more. The golden belt buckle is an elegant addition. They come in a wide leg style and my love for this look runs deep since last year. I found wide leg pants so elegant and that a petite women can wear them and look really great. I like the wide leg style with the ankle length so I can wear sneakers, flats or heels with them. The pants were too long for me but it wasn’t a big deal to shorten them. When I don’t want to take out my sewing machine, I’m often using a hem tape and this works really fine.

As you can see on the photos, the pants are very versatile and can be worn for work with a blazer, dressed up for a date night, edgy with a leather jacket and dressed down with sneakers.

I styled the Florence pants different ways in a Instagram reel, have a look here.

One thing is for sure: these pants will not be the last item I buy from this brand. I put them already on my packing list for our trip in April to California. They’re the most perfect pants for warmer days, on the beach, for shopping trips, for meetings, for lunch and dinner dates and for traveling – basically for everything.

For reference, I’m wearing an S and I’m 5’3 / 160cm (but I had to shorten them).

With love,
